I'm Shawn Whitney — a writer, teacher, story and script consultant, and development executive with over twenty years of professional experience across theatre, film/TV, and long-form prose fiction.

I've taught screenwriting at university level, coached and mentored hundreds of writers from around the world, and spent most of my career working as the kind of professional who reads stories and diagnoses exactly what's working and what isn't. That diagnostic lens — seeing a manuscript the way a reader and a gatekeeper both do — is what I bring to every coaching session and every piece of feedback I give.

I built Story Master because I watched too many talented writers give up. Not because they lacked ability. Because nobody gave them a system that works for real people with real lives.

My philosophy has always been the same: writing education should be accessible. Writers who are rich in ideas deserve tools built for finishing. Your voice deserves to be heard — and the world deserves your voice.
